Business Overview
Belgazprombank is a commercial bank organized as an open joint-stock company under the laws of the Republic of Belarus and registered in the capital Minsk.
The Bank has two primary areas of activities. Firstly, it services the entities of the gas industry, which also includes settlements for supplies of natural gas to the Republic of Belarus and for transit of Russian gas to Europe. The Bank supports Gazprom group transactions in Belarus, including keeping group accounts, effecting settlements for gas and equipment and custody services. Since 2003 Gazprom has concentrated its activities in the Republic of Belarus in Belgazprombank. The state utility company Beltransgaz has also transferred its accounts to Belgazprombank.
Another important area of activities is business with small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) with focus on lending under the EBRD and IFC programmes. Belgazprombank has a broad experience in lending to SMEs.
During the cooperation with EBRD since 1997 the Bank has provided SMEs with 64 loans in the total amount of USD 21.9 mln.
Belgazprombank is one of the first participants of the Microloans programme aimed at SMEs support and development in the Republic of Belarus. Belgazprombank is the most active bank providing loans within the framework of the Microloans programme in the Republic of Belarus.
For the period 2001-2007 the Bank has lent 7 200 loans in the total amount of USD 104.2 mln within the Microloans programme (66.2% and 67.1% accordingly within the programme in the Republic of Belarus as a whole).
During the cooperation with IFC 50 loans amounted to USD 11.7 mln has been provided; over the period of the cooperation with Gazprombank – 51 loans in the amount of USD 19.7 mln.
In 2005-2007, Belgazprombank won the national contests 'The Best Entrepreneur of the Year' and was awarded 'The Best Bank providing services to entrepreneurs' title.
Other directions of the Bank's business comprise corporate and retail banking, securities trading and foreign exchange operations. The Bank is also engaged in trade in precious metals.
The main guidelines of the Bank's development include:
serving the country's power sector and supporting Gazprom group transactions in Belarus;
further development of SMEs business;
building-up the funding base through increased corporate and retail deposits and the issuance of the Bank's own debt instruments;
regional diversification;
broadening of product and service range;
further development of cooperation with international financial institutions.
The Bank aims to secure a steady organic growth of its business in the fast growing Belarusian economy through offering a comprehensive range of products, both classic and new ones.
